Do I have to share my phone number with everyone?
No. The number is required for the platform to function (admins use it for support and pickup coordination), but the toggle for sharing with peers and volunteers is off by default. With it off, peers see only your email; turn it on any time from your account if you change your mind.
How do I become a volunteer?
Sign in, head to /volunteers and submit the short form (hostel, available date windows, optional notes). The first 200 signups are auto-approved. After that, applications join a waitlist that admins review when slots open.
I'm on the waitlist — what happens next?
Nothing automatic. We review the waitlist whenever an active volunteer marks themselves inactive or doesn't respond to their assigned pickups for several days. We'll email you if you're promoted.
What if a volunteer can't make my pickup window?
They'll reach out to you directly to reschedule. If you're leaving campus before they can collect, email us — we'll reassign to another volunteer in your hostel area.
Can I edit or cancel a donation after submitting?
Until volunteers collect, yes — email us with what you want to change. Once items are picked up they enter the community pool and we can't return individual items.
What counts as "damage" for the photo comparison?
Anything new that wasn't in the donor's photos: rips, dents, broken parts, missing accessories. Normal in-storage wear (a bit of dust, fade) doesn't count. We don't adjudicate small disputes — the photos exist so we can be honest with everyone.
When does pre-booking open?
Each batch's open and close dates are set per-item by admins, usually a few weeks before the new batch arrives on campus. Watch /prebook closer to the start of term.
I pre-booked something but never see the volunteer's contact.
That means we haven't paired your item with a volunteer yet. The contact appears on My bookings as soon as admins assign one. Drop us a note if a few days pass without change.
How do payments work?
Cash only, directly to the volunteer at hand-off. Bring exact change if you can — volunteers aren't expected to keep float.
Can my parent/friend collect a pre-booked item for me?
Yes, as long as you let the volunteer know in advance and your friend brings a screenshot of your booking confirmation plus their ID.
How do I delete my account?
Email liteloopz@gmail.com from the address on your account. We'll erase your personal record and anonymise the audit trail of any donations or pickups so other people's records aren't broken.
Where do photos go?
Cloudflare R2, served via HTTPS. Images get re-encoded server-side to strip EXIF and other embedded data before upload. We retain item photos as long as they're needed to track an active donation or booking, then prune them in batches.
